It's common for those switches (inside the hand brake assembly) to fail. ![]() The purpose of the switch (on both ends!) is to GROUND a relay coil, thus activating a relay contact that lights the indicator in your dash. (relay is unlikely) If it does go out, then you know you have a short in the switch. If it does not, then you have an issue with the wire shorting to ground or a stuck relay. Remove the 4 screws, (about a mile of threads!!) pull up on the front side of the assembly and you should see a push type switch with a wire coming out the back end. Remove the rubber housing around hand brake lever. If all is OK with that, put the wire back on, then.Ģ. (easy test, just remove the connection to one side of it and see if the light goes out) Insure the switch in your brake fluid reservoir isn't shorted. ![]()
